TRADE

February 27, 2007

I cannot wait for the film TRADE to come out.  If the trailer for the film is anything like the film itself it's going to be incredible.  The music in the trailer alone is enough to bring tears to someone's eyes.  I remember the first time I heard it, it was when I put Rufus Wainwright's cd Want Two into my cd player, it instantly became a favorite of mine.  Below are the lyrics to the song “Agnus Dei” and their English translation as well as the trailer to “TRADE.”

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona nobis pacem.

Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, grant us peace.

and now, a letter…

February 25, 2007

Dear CNN,

As of late I have become obsessed with your breaking news. So obsessed that I have made CNN.COM my homepage. I would like to say I've done this because I am a responsible United States/World citizen who likes to stay educated and on top of the events that are occurring around me. Unfortunately this is not the case. So why exactly am I constantly checking your glorious website? Because from time to time you have got some headlines that just make me do a double, or some times a triple take. Today's instance of this was your headline on a story about a mentally unstable grandmother who killed her granddaughter. Here is the headline: Woman allegedly advised by geese found not guilty in tot death.

I must say thank you, CNN.  Thank you for showing me that headlines don't have to be dry and stuffy, they can be hilarious even if the subject matter is incredibly unsettling.

Cheers!
-Benjamin L. Hill

Tasteless Much?

February 19, 2007

I just found this article and if it weren't for the fact that it is on CNN.com i would have regarded it as a hoax, mainly because some of the writing make me question the author's sense of what is and isn't okay to print.

The link from CNN's main page has the story listed as follows: “Sack of baby skeletons found behind hospital”.

After clicking the title of the article is Newborn baby skeletons found in bag. Now, I know that only so much can be done to make the story “pleasant”, but what really got to me was the fact that in the middle of the article is another hyper-link, this one to a video, that says “watch men remove the tiny bodies.” I mean COME ON!

Out of my damned mind

February 8, 2007

– I bought plastic cups made completely from Corn. They're Compostable!!
– Diet fountain Coca-Cola tastes like poison.
– There needs to be an Eharmony alternative for gays. It should be called QueerHarmony.
– The ending of “Running With Scissors” made me cry out of sadness and hope.
– When I can't comfort someone I get sad. This is also why I cried during the above.
– My mind is all over the place tonight, thus this list, hopefully afterward I'll be able to sleep.
– I can't decide whether “bum-angel” is a compliment or an insult.
– Right now I'm thinking that watching “Running With Scissors” has made me a bit crazy.
– Gay people, or humans in general, shouldn't have to poop. It's pretty gross.
– Pretty gross is an oxymoron.
– Oxymoron was a word WAY before OxyClean was ever created.
– I want some chocolate covered strawberries, those sound delicious.
– I hate it when I hear Andrea having sex, she's all “uhhhh, oooh, uhh uhh”. Like right now.
– I think I could keep doing this for hours so I'm just going to stop now.
